If I could give higher rating I would! Really made my day grooming a guard Pyrenees so much easier as she has never been groomed before. WILL BE GETTING ANOTHER AND TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT IT!

I already have an arsenal of grooming supplies and didn't think this would make much of a difference but wow. I couldn't believe how much hair it got off my Aussie. Good for tangles, deshedding the under coat, especially those tricky knots and matts behind the ears.
I have two patient dogs who do well with grooming and don't mind this at all, but some dogs may not like the slight pull and tug required to get tough tangles out. The two-sided feature is really nice.
A good rule of thumb is to start with the wide side, if the brush gets stuck, stop tugging in that direction and lift up and away from the dog, then repeat that until the brush moves easily through the spot. Then switch to the narrower side and repeat. Typically any knots that this thing can't get I will have to cut with scissors but it does a pretty good job.

This rake is wonderful. It pulls out loose hair so efficiently. One side has fewer hooks than the other and is useful for starting on the coat. After you have removed a good bit of hair with that side you can flip over to the other side where the hooks are closer together and that works well for pulling off even more hair. The rake is sturdy, well made and fairly comfortable to use. The only thing that I could complain about is that the fur is difficult to remove from the rake. As long as a lot of fur collects on it it's easy to remove as a clump but when you start getting only a little fur off the dog it becomes more difficult to remove from the rake. Just FYI I recently read about a trick to help with the ease of brushing/removing loose fur and I tried it with this rake. If you spray on leave in conditioner, fur detangler or shed reducing spray before you begin grooming (before or after a bath, in between baths, wet or dry coat) and as you work it will help in several ways. It helps the tool to move more smoothly with less drag as you brush through the coat. It also helps keep the fur from floating around in the air. The fur comes off with less pulling on the dog and as a bonus these sprays usually smell really nice and help deodorize the dog. It also makes them nice and shiny. (The little charm that came with it this rake is awfully cute.)

My very grumpy cat had some matting in the rear and the average comb or brush was not doing the job. This (and a pair of pet sheers) got all the matts out. I only needed the sheers to snip off the ends if the knots and this brush did the rest. Be careful it can snag tho. Now that all the knits are out i continue to use this brush to keep it from mattimg again and it works great. There are 2 sides. The side to get the knots out and the side to keep up on thinning out the gross fur and dander

A police officer actually introduced me to this amazing tool.
My Irish Wolfhound LOVES it and oh my gosh with the summer coming, the winter coat is going. The picture shown is one of many clumps of undercoat was removed from a dog that gets combed two to three times a day. That pile is only TWO strokes! Quality product with high end materials. Four Stars

This works!!! We have a long hair black cat who's hair tangles and knots up. He also has horrible anxiety problems! So taking him to a groomer was out of the question. I was able to comb all through his hair. He purred and rolled over. I think he is incredibly grateful to have the knots gone. I imagine they hurt and pull at his skin.
Update!!! Is it possible for something to be too good?!! Our cat still loves it!

This comb is amazing! It's a lifesaver!! We have a bichon and he hates being dematted. Unfortunately he get's matted very easily so we have to put him through the pain of dematting every few days. Poor things yelps when we demat him :( This comb helps a lot! When we demat him, he seems to be in 80% less pain! I was researching other similar combs but like the fact that this one is smooth at the bottom so that I don't have to worry about mistakenly hurting my pup.

I don't write many reviews and this one is even unsolicited. My elderly neighbor wasn't able to take good care of her long hair cat and she bagan to pelt. (One huge mat) I adopted her and began the process shaving her carefully with a grooming shaver. I am far from a professional, but YouTube is a lifesaver. I got most of the mat (90%) off but she tired of this after doing parts of it over 2 days and was getting very feisty. I ordered this comb and WOW! She loves it, and her hair is starting to look better after one comb out. I learned that when I would get to a mat, to gently wiggle the comb and slowly pull the hair straight out, instead of at a combing angle, she let me know if I was doing it wrong. She has two areas I need to get at again tomorrow, but her hair! Her coat is looking shiny, removing all of the old under coat. This is probably the most useful tool I have ever purchased for my animals. I'm buying another, just incase this one gets lost. I combed my dogs as well. They have a clipper cut, but I still got a fair amount of undercoat from them as well. Just go slow. Initially it seemed like a love/hate deal but within 5 minutes Miss Diva couldn't get enough. I am so happy. Update. Photos of day 4. I am still getting hair out of her undercoat. One swipe through her coat still gets at least this much in the comb. The pile doubled before we were done for the night. She LOVES it.

I have 2 Newfoundlands and the summer shed had just begun. They shed faster than my daily vacuuming can keep up with, but the summer shed made it infinitely worse. I wish this brush were wider with more teeth to the comb, but it is still a great product. In about an hour I had pulled off a pile of hair as big as my 150lb puppy. He is happier and cooler, and I am happy that all that fur is not on my floors, clothes, furniture, and walls!

I'm new to the pet grooming game and I recently rescued a Persian cat of which needs constant grooming. He came with some matting and I tried scissors and even pet hair clippers but was afraid I'd cut his skin. This tool worked as advertised and myself and my cat Fatty are very pleased.
